A Landscape Within

This oak tree possesses a commanding presence with its patchwork of forms and tapestry of rusty reds and olive greens adorning its deeply creviced bark.

Despite the rich array of colour and texture, Jackie was drawn to a very small section of the bark. It is reminiscent of an aerial satellite map of a town with roads, buildings and open areas. This painting draws attention to this interplay of colour, shape and form transforming the composition into something completely apart from the tree itself.

Discovering this chosen area on the tree itself becomes a kind of treasure hunt, a search among the ridges and fissures to uncover a hidden jewel.
